Leuze Electronic is one of the oldest names in photoelectric sensors. With over 40 years experience in designing world class products, they have a reputation for manufacturing some of the best sensors around. With Leuze Lumiflex being it's specialised safety division, they can lay claim to supplying one of the largest ranges of optical products today. With three different product groups each with their own research and development facility, they have designed and released many world first innovations that have solved some of the most difficult automation challenges. Here we overview some of the products that Leuze design and manufacture.

Leuze Product Overview PDF

Leuze electronic manufacture one of the largest ranges of Photoelectric sensors available. Specialising in optical sensor technology for over 40 years, allows Leuze to be at the forefront of technology, providing performance, reliability, and great long term cost savings for many industries worldwide. Leuze has developed and patented many innovations over this time and will continue to find ways to solve problems of the automation world for future products. With through beam sensors, retro-reflective sensors, diffuse sensors, background suppression sensors and foreground suppression sensors to start the list. Contrast scanners, colour scanners, luminescence scanners to continue the list. Leuze has sensors to suit many general applications. Leuze continues on however with sensors for clear glass and film detection, chosen by the worlds largest bottling machine manufactures because of there reliable operation and simple set-up. Leuze also invented fork sensors which are now used in labelling machines and other applications. Special purpose fork sensors using ultra-sonic principles allow just one fork sensor to detect all label types, paper, plastic (including transparent) and foil all in one. Label sensors to detect labels on bottles without using luminescence even when the label is the same colour as the product inside. Sensors for double sheet detection and other applications in the printing industry. Optical distance sensors which can measure up to 30 metres and provide an analogue output are available. There are also many special purpose sensors designed to solve difficult applications reliably and cost effectively. These provide a more reliable solution than "adapted" products. Sensors designed to work specifically in certain environments and solve specific problems save time and money.

Barcodes are in use everywhere and in the world of automation they are used everyday. Features like the auto-calibration allow the customer to set and forget their scanner even with changing colours and parameters the scanner continuosly calibrates itself every scan to ensure the best set-up. The special len's developed by Leuze allow large depth of fields without the need for focus control and/or adjustment. Auto-config with allows the scanner to quickly learn the code to be scanned and configure itself, saves invaluble time when you do not know anything about the barcode. To complete the world of auto-identification Leuze Electronic have RF-ID systems. With units capable of scanning from 30mm to 1.2 Metres, and complete compatibility to the barcode scanners, Leuze makes it easy to integrate mixed technologies, or provide an upgrade path to exisitng systems and technologies. Optical data-transmissions systems provide a reliable and fast link for most modern control systems. Providing support for Profi-bus, Interbus, Ethernet, CAN-Open, Device-Net, Allen Bradley RIO and DH+, RS232, RS485, RS422 and current loop, there is no excuse for not being able to get the information to and from the control system to any line of sight device, such as a crane, shuttle car, etc. When devices are moving in a plant it is crucial to know where they are. Often this needs to be known to the millimetre. Here Leuze electronic reigns. The new AMS200 provides class leading performance that makes our competitors envious. Non contact up to 200Metres range, with an absolute accuracy within +/- 3mm, fast update times, allow systems to operate to a higher speed and accuracy then before. As the only device to be independently certified for linearity, you can be sure it is where the AMS200 says it is. If this is not enough what about the Barcode Positioning System? 10,000 Metres with 1mm resolution? Yes thats 10 kilometres!!! Able to follow curves, track changes (switch outs), the BPS system provides a whole new degree of flexibility in position measurement.

Lumiflex is the safety division of Leuze. However they don't just only do safety products. Light curtains, light grids, single beam and laser scanners form the basic of the range. Safety interlocking switches, warning beacons and sirens also complement the range of safety products. They also have measuring curtains, with the Scan and Konture, enabling measuring to a 5mm resolution a possibility. In Australia we have one of 5 manufacturing facilities for light curtains worldwide. This enable us to provide quick delivery of any standard Cat. 2 and Cat. 4 light curtain, as well as repairs and service all handled locally. Our workshop is fitted with factory designed and calibrated test equipment to enable us to test and repair to all the factory specifications. Leaders in developing safety technology, Lumiflex has many firsts proving that our innovation and customer focus provides products to solve nearly all industrial automation safety requirements.
